The Co-founders
Caroline is the founder of Compassion Rising, an organization dedicated to Recovery Coaching for parents, family, friends and loved ones close to someone with addiction. As a parent of a child with heroin addiction, Caroline is acutely aware of the lack of supports and the shame based treatment of parents. She spearheaded the development of Honoring The Parents as a way to provide opportunities for parents, partners, friends and family to experience supportive, empowering and respectful spaces to talk about the day-to-day struggle being close to someone with addiction. Through her own experience with her daughter's addiction, Caroline is learning to navigate the ups and downs of active addiction and recovery periods and to find peace, courage and hope no matter the circumstances. She delivers compassionate insight based on her own experiences and she is a bright light and an inspiration to others. The commitment, warmth and kindness that she brings to parents is a welcome reprieve from the judgments and stigma swirling around them. Caroline has extensive experience facilitating groups for personal growth and is well-known in the local community for her non-profit organization Sisters for Peace.

Tanya is a clinical social worker with 17 years of treatment experience with adolescents, adults and families. She is a therapist in local private practice and she also coaches parents and families with a family member with addiction or mental health issue. She is committed to supporting family (and other loved ones) with compassion, levity and respect for the challenges they face. Her coaching and areas of expertise have been influenced by her experience in addiction treatment centers, college counseling centers, and therapeutic schools. Her approach brings clarity to families and carries a fundamental understanding that people who are suffering emotionally want a way out, they just often do not know how; and that family members, partners and friends have the ability to positively influence and support healthy changes. In her work with families, she emphasizes the value of positive communication and interaction with their loved one, the importance of self-care, and knowing how to use their influence in healthy ways. Tanya holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Smith College School for Social Work, and completed her Post Graduate Fellowship at Harvard University.
